to get off to a nice start I contacted my friend Morten, who runs a record label called How Is Annie. I was merely asking to mirror their freely available digital albums... and in a very capitalist moment, he just replied: "just upload everything". so now I'm a cool kid with indie cred, and he's going out of business... lol, ok not really. I'd actually argue that the only affect this deal has had on his label is that more people know about it. the same goes for every band that ever has appeared on my blog. what's the worst thing that could happen? no one downloads their stuff? well... that's a risk worth taking, because this site could potentially get you *a lot* of new fans. i t seems like people realise this, because damn - I get a lot of mails. a few thank yous, and a great deal of "hey this site rules, we want our band represented if you like us" mails. I must say this site has led to many new contacts. all of which have been very welcome.
to my huge surprise I scored 97 daily visits in my first month. this quickly more than doubled, and kept going relatively stable around 100-250 daily visits. but in September, I started playing catch up with the holidays. thus the blog was a bit more active than it had been the past couple of months... and vĂ³ila - 550 daily visits for September, with some days ranking up over a thousand visits. that's insane. even for a viking. I realised this was getting too big for my current system. first of all, using it as a prefix to my domain linustorvaldsfacts.com didn't work out. too long of an address. second of all, the blog system was horrible. too hard to do anything. I hated it. I wish I converted to Wordpress much earlier than I did. oh well.
also this new site has this awesome forum that everyone can register at and suggest stuff, ask questions and so on. but mainly it's just for hanging out! that's punk is no longer just a blog. it's a community. and pretty much everyone is invited to the party. thank you! for using www.thatspunk.net.
